Trauma and urgent visits
A serious injury goes to an emergency room first. For a problem that needs a surgeon soon but not at once, call the desk.
If you aren't sure which this is, call 911. The emergency team can ask a surgeon to see you.
- Swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a serious blow to the head, or bleeding that won't stop needs emergency care now. Go to an emergency room or call 911. If a tooth is knocked out or broken, call our office right away.
What to do first
Call 911 or go to an emergency room
A broken jaw, a serious blow to the face or head, trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling that spreads toward the eye or neck, or bleeding that won't stop.
Call our desk
A tooth knocked out or broken, a sore spot after surgery here, or a referral that can't wait. Keep a knocked-out tooth moist and bring it with you.
Call your dentist
A toothache or a lost filling without swelling. Your dentist can see you and refer you if a surgeon is needed.
